COMMUNITY DYNAMICS AND RIO SCHOOL DISTRICT BRIDGE TECHNOLOGY GAP

OXNARD, CA
– Community Dynamics and the Rio Elementary School District have teamed up to help low income households bridge the technology gap.

The builder-developer has donated 22 brand new Apple E-Mac computers and Lexmark printers to each of the low income families who purchased homes at Sonria, a mixed income ownership community the company recently completed in Oxnard.

The School District is offering six hours of classroom instruction to the children and parents of those families in an effort to provide them with the skills they need to make use of their new computers' operating and programming capabilities. Thirty parents and children filled the Rio Del Valle Middle School's Classroom of Tomorrow on Saturday morning, August 14. District Superintendent Patrick Faverty urged them to take advantage of the opportunity.

Greg Rydberg, one of Sonria's new homeowners, has volunteered as the new community's Technology Liaison, helping families operationalize their systems and work with their new programs at home. Each computer comes equipped with internet, word processing, spreadsheeting and graphic display capabilities.

Josh Freeman, the company's spokesperson, said, "This public-private partnership is representative of Community Dynamics' commitment to the development and support of our communities' long term strength and sustainability, not just the homes we build".
